Job summary

FedEx is seeking a Package Handler for an interview-position role. You will move trailers to and from unload/load doors and throughout the yard and may load, unload, and sort packages by hand in a safe, efficient manner.

Requirements include a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Six months of package-handling or switching/CDL experience is preferred; bilingual ability is a plus in Quebec. Shift schedule is Saturday to Wednesday, 3:00 AM to 8:30 AM.

Qualifications

• In the province of Quebec, must be bilingual (French and English).

Responsibilities

• Move trailers to and from unload/load doors and throughout the yard.
• Load, unload and/or sort packages by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and placing.
• Utilize hand-to-surface methods for all package handling and sort packages accordingly.
• Operate in shifts of two to four hours with conveyor and loading equipment as needed.

Responsible for the movement of trailers to and from the unload / load doors and throughout the yard. May also be responsible for the physical loading, unloading and/or sorting of packages by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and placing, in a safe and efficient manner.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

High school diploma/educational equivalent.

Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.

Six (6) months of experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator experience preferred.

In addition to the above essential functions, may also be required to perform Package Handler essential functions as follows:

Utilizes "hand-to-surface" methods for all package handling.

Loads and unloads packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, conveyor system carts and load gratings.

Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages on a continuous and repetitive basis for approximate shifts of two to four hours.

Determines the appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers and memorizing information and sorts packages accordingly.
