Job summary

Country View Family Farms is seeking a Sow Farm Manager to lead a 5,000-head sow production unit and develop a high-performance team across a large-scale operation. You will partner with HR on staffing, ensure animal welfare, biosecurity, and regulatory compliance, and drive production metrics.

You will report to the Regional Production Manager and manage 16-20 employees, emphasizing safety, continuous improvement, and engagement at weekly meetings.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production and operations of a 5,000-head sow unit.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of up to 21 employees.
  • Manage employee performance, scheduling, training, and development.
  • Partner with HR and the Regional Manager on hiring and staffing needs.
  • Conduct weekly farm meetings to drive engagement and accountability.
  • Collaborate with Nursery Service Manager on herd health and production metrics.
  • Execute animal care programs including vaccination and medication plans.
  • Ensure compliance with biosecurity, animal welfare, safety, and production policies.
  • Monitor farm budgets, targets, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain annual business plans, updating quarterly.

Job Description:

The Sow Farm Manager to lead a 5,000-head sow production unit. Reporting directly to the Regional Production Manager, this hands-on leadership role is responsible for driving production performance, ensuring animal welfare, biosecurity, and regulatory compliance, leading and developing a team of 16-20 employees, and partnering with Human Resources on hiring, staffing, employee development, and performance management.

What You’ll Do

Oversee daily production and operations of a 5,000-head sow unit

Lead, coach, and develop a team of up to 21 employees

Manage employee performance, scheduling, training, and development

Partner with HR and the Regional Manager on hiring and staffing needs

Conduct weekly farm meetings to drive engagement and accountability

Collaborate with Nursery Service Manager on herd health and production metrics

Ensure compliance with biosecurity, animal welfare, safety, and production policies

What We’re Looking For

High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent experience)

Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Willingness to work Monday-Friday with some weekends and holidays

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

Ability to stand and move throughout barns for the majority of the day

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently (occasionally more with assistance)

Comfortable working in a farm environment with dust, odors, animal dander, noise, and varying temperatures

Ability to safely work around livestock and farm equipment
