Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess a teaching certificate or a substitute‑teaching certificate (60 or more college hours).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preseason: size and order uniforms and equipment; distribute uniforms and orders; plan, organize and coach summer practices.
- Plan and receive administrative approval for fundraisers to defray athlete’s costs.
- Manage and distribute sports schedules.
- Complete MSHAA online rules review and NFHS concussion training.
- Provide first aid for students; maintain emergency procedures.
- Tryouts: post information at high schools, middle schools, local parochial and private schools; hold informational meetings for parents and participants; keep track of applications, teacher recommendations, physical cards, proof of insurance and attendance for all applicants; set up and manage tryouts.
- Season: follow all state, league, federation, building and District guidelines, procedures, and policies; hold parent meetings; order buses; insure all in and out of district travel forms are complete; distribute uniforms and keep inventory documentation; manage, supervise, and attend all practices; maintain compliance with MSHSAA eligibility rosters; submit transfer student lists; attend all games; organize fundraisers; develop routines for sports assemblies; develop materials and attend pep rally; participate in Homecoming activities; maintain school spirit; keep accurate records; report stats within two days after contest; attend MSHSAA post‑season online forms; discipline athletes; submit approved time sheets; maintain parental contact; assist athletes with college recruitment.
- Post‑Season: collect, wash, repair and store uniforms; complete inventory report and submit within two weeks; submit fine cards; host event to distribute letters and awards; assess and evaluate the year and plan improvements; attend post athletic evaluation meeting.
Terms of Employment
- Athletic contracts are seasonal.
- Fall contracts to be paid one time on approximately November 10.
- Winter contracts to be paid one time on approximately February 10.
- Spring contracts to be paid one time on approximately May 10.
- Safe Schools videos assigned by the District, plus concussion, CPR, AED and first aid certification videos to satisfy MSHSAA requirements.
- Timesheets if worksheet identifies it as needed.
- Substitute certificate at a minimum.

- Carrying: 0‑20 lbs, 20‑50 lbs, 50‑100 lbs, >100 lbs.
- Moving/Pushing/Pulling: 0‑20 lbs, 20‑50 lbs, 50‑100 lbs, >100 lbs.
- Reaching, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, bending, grasping/having hands, using feet for repetitive movements.
- Extremes of heat and cold; driving.
