Job summary

The Oshman Family Jewish Community Center in Silicon Valley is seeking a Swim Coach for the Youth Swim Team. If you have a passion for the pool and enjoy teaching, you’ll lead practices, help develop techniques and motivate young swimmers during meets and clinics.

This on-site role includes perks like a free fitness membership, comprehensive health/dental/vision coverage, paid holidays and PTO, and access to a Recovery room.

Qualifications

• Strong swimming background required.
• Dynamic, enthusiastic, energetic, friendly and able to inspire others.
• Self-starter, highly motivated, organized with good time management and follow-up skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service oriented.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently or with a team.
• 1+ years of aquatic coaching experience preferred.
• Current Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach/Coach various levels and age groups.
• Follow up with prospective swimmers, hold try-outs and report back to the parents and Aquatics Management.
• Introduce children to good sportsmanship, teamwork, and accountability through a love of swimming.
• Plan practices that may be in-water or on dry-land, selecting drills based on age and ability.
• Collaborate with other Swim Coaches and Aquatics Management on workouts and events.

The Job

If you have a passion for the pool and like teaching, you'll love being a swim coach for Youth Swim Team! As a Swim Coach, you will conduct and assist with swim meets, help develop techniques and encourage young swimmers!

The Core Duties

• Teach/Coach various levels and age groups
• Follow up with prospective swimmers, hold try-outs and report back to the parents and Aquatics Management

• Plan practices that may be in-water or on dry-land, select appropriate drills based on age and ability
• Collaborate with other Swim Coach(es) and/or Aquatics Management on workouts, swim meets, other events, etc.

The Essentials

• Strong swimming background required
• Individual must be dynamic, enthusiastic, energetic, friendly, personable and have the ability to inspire and motivate others.
• Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, organized, with good time management and great follow-up skills
• Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member with the community, other coaches and other employees
• Excellent communication skills, customer service oriented and commitment to Aquatics excellence
• Ability to multi-task
• 1+ years of experience being an aquatic instructor/coach preferred
• Current Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid Certified preferred
• Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
