Job summary

The Patrick Henry Family YMCA is seeking a part-time, experienced swim team coach for our program. The position pays $15–$16 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

The role focuses on delivering workouts, providing motivation, and supporting swimmers while maintaining a safe and fun atmosphere. The coach leads practices on deck during scheduled sessions 2–4 nights per week.

Qualifications

• Current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications required.
• YMCA/ARC Lifeguard certification or Ellis certification preferred.
• Ability to perform all four strokes and coach multiple days per week.
• Coaching and managing swim team practices 2–4 evenings per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide workouts, instruction, motivation, and support to the swim team.
• Serve as the primary coach on deck during practices and lead 2–4 night sessions per week.
• Create a safe and fun practice environment for swimmers of all levels.

Job description

DUTIES of a Swim Team Coach

This position is responsible for providing workouts, instructions, motivation, and support to our swim team. Focus should be on creating a safe and fun environment. This position serves as the primary coach on deck during team practices and is expected to lead practices 2-4 nights a week.

QUALIFICATIONS Of a Swim Team Coach

Current Professional CPR, AED and First Aid and YMCA/or American Red Cross Lifeguard/or Ellis certification are required as well as the ability to perform all four strokes (backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle). YMCA Swim Instructor or WSI, current O2 certification, and competitive swimming experience are desired as well as experience coaching and managing team practices several days a week. Qualified candidates should have a strong sense of teamwork and ability to collaborate with other coaches and team leaders.
