Job summary

YMCA of Catawba Valley is seeking a Swim Instructor who will teach lessons according to YMCA standards and create a positive learning environment for children and adults in Morganton, NC. You will maintain safety, keep attendance records, and provide written progress reports with each student.

The position requires current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification (or Red Cross equivalent) and ongoing CPR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen Administration certifications, plus annual training in Blood

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Must complete YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification (24 hours) prior to teaching alone or within 90 days if a current Red Cross Swim Instructor.
• Current status in CPR, First Aid, AED, Oxygen Administration certifications, renewed annually.
• Must complete Blood Borne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention trainings annually.
• Must complete YMCA of Greater Charlotte New Staff Connection prior to employment
• Must complete I Create Loyalty Training within 30 days of hire
• Must successfully complete at least 4 hours teaching under supervision before leading a class independently
• Must present a professional, mature image and have excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Overview

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director/Coordinator and in accordance with the mission of the YMCA, the Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching swim lessons according to YMCA of the USA program standards.

• All YMCA staff are responsible for creating a safe, inclusive environment. This includes following all YMCA policies and procedures related to abuse prevention, reporting concerns or incidents immediately, and maintaining appropriate boundaries with youth and members

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old
• Must successfully complete, and maintain current certification, as a YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor (24 hours) prior to teaching alone or within 90 days if a current Red Cross Swim Instructor
• Current status in the following certifications, to be renewed annually:
  • Professional Level CPR
  • First Aid
  • Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Oxygen Administration
• Must complete the following trainings before working first shift and are to be renewed annually: Blood Borne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention.
• Must complete YMCA of Greater Charlotte New Staff Connection prior to employment
• Must complete I Create Loyalty Training within 30 days of hire
• Must successfully complete at least 4 hours teaching under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Director/Coordinator or an experienced instructor before leading a class independently
• Must present a professional, mature image, and have excellent interpersonal communication skills

Posted Salary Range
