Job summary

British Swim School is seeking a dedicated Swim Instructor to teach children and adults, starting at 3 months old, using our fun, gentle, progressive methods. You will receive extensive training to build confidence and the ability to work with swimmers of varying abilities.

This role focuses on survival swim techniques aligned with our mission to reduce drowning. You will work afternoons and evenings, complete background screening, and contribute to a supportive, community-focused team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, equivalent, or in the process of completion.
• Enthusiastic personality.
• Comfortable in and around the water; strong swimming skills are a plus but can be taught.
• Must maintain certifications throughout employment.
• Must complete British Swim School Aquatics training and testing.

Responsibilities

• Support the Aquatics Leader and/or Business Owner(s).
• Follow curriculum to ensure safe and competent lessons and environment.
• Work afternoons (12pm-3pm), evenings (3pm-8pm), and holidays as required.
• Maintain certifications throughout employment.
• Stand in water for up to 5 consecutive hours in a moderate to high noise environment.

A Swim Instructor at British Swim School teaches swim lessons to children and adults, starting at 3 months old using our fun, gentle and progressive methods. You will receive extensive training to build your confidence and ability to work with a variety of swimmers and abilities. Having fun and interacting with our swimmers is an important part of the role! A strong focus is placed on providing survival swim techniques living out the British Swim School mission and making a big impact on decreasing drowning.

This position requires the successful completion of a background screening and pre-employment drug screen.

Your Typical Responsibilities

• Support the Aquatics Leader and/or Business Owner(s)
• Follow British Swim Schools curriculum to ensure safe and competent lessons and environment.
• Work afternoons (12pm-3pm), evenings (3pm-8pm), and holidays as required by business needs.
• Maintain certifications throughout employment.
• Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and stand in the water for up to 5 consecutive hours.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma, equivalent, or in the process of completion.
• Enthusiastic personality.
• Comfortable in and around the water. Strong swimming skills are a plus but can be taught and developed!
• Must maintain certifications throughout the length of employment.
• Must complete all required British Swim School Aquatics-specific training and testing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with children.
• Swimming experience: 1-2 years preferred but not required.
• Customer service skills: 1 year preferred.
• Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification(s) preferred (but can be obtained during training)

Compensation: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Our instructors should like working with this age group and be good at making parents feel comfortable. It\'s helpful if you have experience with children or in a child-focused job, but it\'s not required if you can show the right attitude. The job comes with specialized training in our advanced and unique British Swim School approach.
