Douglas County seeks a Deputy District Attorney for the Special Victims and Domestic Violence Unit to prosecute complex cases involving children and sexual offenses. The role includes handling felony DV cases and child exploitation matters, with possible blended caseloads.

The candidate must have a J.D., be admitted in Colorado, and possess at least 1 year of prosecutorial experience. A valid CO driver’s license and background check are required.

Competenze

• JD from an accredited law school and active Colorado license.
• Minimum 1 year prosecutorial experience.
• Strong knowledge of criminal procedure and rules of evidence.
• Ability to advocate clearly to diverse audiences in court and in writing.
• Ability to manage cases and coordinate with law enforcement and agencies.
• Willingness to complete a criminal background check and hold a CO driver’s license.

Mansioni

• Prosecute SVU and DV cases from intake through trial, including grand jury and post-conviction proceedings.
• Direct and support investigations with law enforcement and forensic experts; manage subpoenas and search warrants.
• Ensure trauma-informed, victim-centered interaction and coordination with advocates and partners.
• Train and mentor prosecutors, law enforcement, and community partners; participate in task forces and advocacy efforts.
• Represent the office at public forums and conferences and collaborate with federal and state agencies.
