Job summary

Banc of California, a leading relationship-based business bank, seeks a dynamic senior leader for the Strategic Finance team. The role reports to the EVP, Treasurer and drives financial strategy, capital planning, and investor communications to support growth and shareholder value.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in Corporate Finance/Strategy/IR, strong financial modeling, leadership experience, and exceptional communication skills.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years of progressively responsible experience in Corporate Finance, Strategy, Banking, and/or Investor Relations with emphasis on financial modeling, capital markets, analytics, valuation, budgeting, or executive-level communications.
• Five+ years of direct or matrixed leadership experience as an individual contributor or people manager.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with a demonstrated capacity to present materials to executive teams and investors.
• High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, execution, and oversight of financial strategies that support enterprise objectives and shareholder value creation.
• Support balance sheet strategy, including asset-liability management optimization, capital deployment, funding strategy, and balance sheet hedging.
• Develop and evaluate strategic balance sheet scenarios impacting earnings, capital, liquidity, and shareholder returns.
• Deliver investor communications materials, including quarterly earnings materials, investor presentations, and annual reports.
• Partner with executive leadership across Finance, Treasury, Strategy, and business lines to align initiatives with objectives.
• Support financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic analysis to inform decisions and identify value opportunities.
• Identify, evaluate, and execute corporate development opportunities including M&A and strategic partnerships.
• Coordinate due diligence, transaction execution, and integration planning.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented senior leader to join our Strategic Finance team. This high-visibility role reports to the EVP, Treasurer and leads critical financial and strategic initiatives that shape the organization’s growth and enterprise priorities while supporting investor engagement. The successful candidate will bring banking, corporate finance, strategy, and executive stakeholder management experience, with advanced analytical capabilities and the ability to influence, communicate effectively, and drive outcomes across internal and external stakeholders. The role requires executive presence, leadership, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.

Strategic Finance

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

• Lead the development, execution, and oversight of financial strategies that support enterprise objectives, executive decision-making, and long-term shareholder value creation.
• Support balance sheet strategy, including asset-liability management optimization, capital and liquidity deployment, funding strategy, and balance sheet hedging designed to improve the organization’s overall risk-adjusted return profile.
• Develop and evaluate strategic balance sheet scenarios, assessing their impact on earnings, capital, liquidity, interest-rate risk, and shareholder returns.
• Support the development and delivery of key investor communications, including quarterly earnings materials, investor presentations, annual reports, and other executive-level messaging.
• Partner with executive leadership and teams across Finance, Treasury, Strategy, and the business lines to align strategic initiatives with organizational objectives and drive enterprise-wide execution.
• Support financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic analysis to inform decision-making, evaluate tradeoffs, and identify opportunities for value creation.

Investor Relations

• Support the company’s engagement with equity analysts, investors, rating agencies, and other key stakeholders.
• Assist in preparing quarterly earnings materials, investor presentations, annual reports, management talking points, and responses to investor inquiries.
• Partner with executive leadership and the Investor Relations team to communicate the company’s financial performance, strategic priorities, balance sheet positioning, and long-term value proposition.
• Monitor investor sentiment, market expectations, peer performance, and industry trends, providing analysis and insights to support executive leadership and Board discussions.
• Help ensure consistency and accuracy across investor communications, regulatory disclosures, and other external financial messaging.

Corporate Development

• Identify, evaluate, and execute corporate development opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, strategic partnerships, investments, and other enterprise initiatives.
• Lead financial, strategic, and market analyses to assess potential opportunities, risks, valuation, and expected shareholder returns.
• Conduct in-depth industry, competitive, and market analysis to inform growth strategies and capital allocation decisions.
• Coordinate cross-functional due diligence, transaction execution, and integration planning.

Collaboration And Leadership

• Partner cross-functionally with executive leaders and finance, strategy, and operational teams to align initiatives with organizational goals and drive enterprise-level execution.
• Follow all established policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Applied Mathematics, or another quantitative field.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in Corporate Finance, Strategy, Banking, and/or Investor Relations roles, with an emphasis on financial modeling, capital markets, analytics, valuation, budgeting, strategic financial decision-making, executive-level communications, or related experience.
• Five (5) or more years of direct or matrixed leadership experience as an individual contributor or people manager.
• High degree of proficiency across the suite of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Exceptional financial modeling, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
• Strong knowledge of corporate development processes and strategic planning.
• Motivation to succeed, with strong initiative and the ability to work independently.
• Proven track record of building strong relationships and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to prepare and present materials to executive teams and investors.
