RPL International client seeks an experienced banking credit leader to run Credit Underwriting and mentor the team of underwriters and analysts. You will oversee complex decisions, ensure policy adherence, and partner with the Chief Credit Officer on risk management.

Responsibilities include evaluating borrower financials, managing portfolio risks, and presenting to senior committees. Strong CRE and C&I lending experience, including construction lending, is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience leading commercial banking underwriting or risk teams.
  • Strong CRE and C&I lending experience; construction lending preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead senior credit committees and policy governance.
  • Knowledge of credit policy, risk ratings, portfolio management and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of senior credit underwriters and analysts.
  • Review and approve complex loans within delegated authority (new originations, renewals, modifications, annual reviews).
  • Oversee underwriting across commercial real estate, C&I, construction, ABL, SBA and other lending areas.
  • Evaluate borrower financials, cash flow, collateral, risk ratings and loan structure.
  • Identify deteriorating credits, policy exceptions and concentration risks.
  • Present complex credit transactions to senior lending/credit committees.
  • Partner with the Chief Credit Officer on policy, regulatory requirements, portfolio monitoring and risk management.
  • Support regulatory examinations, loan reviews, audits, and other external assessments.
  • Provide guidance to relationship managers on credit structure and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee construction lending including budgets, disbursements, collateral and compliance with terms.
  • Foster a strong credit culture through coaching and consistent application of standards.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced banking credit professional to lead the Credit Underwriting function and partner closely with the Chief Credit Officer and senior leadership. This individual will oversee complex commercial credit decisions, ensure adherence to credit policy and regulatory standards, and provide leadership and mentorship to the Credit Administration team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify deteriorating credits, policy exceptions, concentration risks, and other portfolio concerns.
  • Present complex credit transactions and recommendations to senior lending/credit committees.
  • Partner with the Chief Credit Officer on credit policy, regulatory requirements, portfolio monitoring, and risk management.
  • Support regulatory examinations, loan reviews, audits, and other external credit assessments.
  • Provide guidance to relationship managers on credit structure, underwriting, and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee construction lending, including project budgets, disbursements, collateral, and compliance with approved terms.
  • Build a strong credit culture through coaching, training, and consistent application of credit standards.
Qualifications
  • Significant experience in commercial banking credit underwriting, credit administration, or credit risk management.
  • Strong CRE and C&I lending experience; construction lending highly preferred.
  • Experience with credit approval authority and senior-level credit committee presentations.
  • Strong knowledge of credit policy, risk ratings, portfolio management, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor credit professionals.
  • Strong communication and judgment with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and lending teams.
