Job summary

Adecco is seeking a Sustaining Engineering Manager for our Houston, TX operations to lead end-to-end sustaining projects for oil & gas downhole tools. You will drive change control, mentor engineers, and coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to ensure production-ready solutions.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical design, reliability, and root-cause analysis, with hands-on lab or manufacturing experience and travel less than 10% for testing or deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 15+ years of engineering experience in oil & gas downhole tools.
• 5+ years in sustaining, production, or operations-focused engineering roles.
• 3+ years of people leadership experience or experience managing direct reports.
• Strong project management, reliability engineering, and root-cause analysis expertise.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute sustaining engineering projects end-to-end, from problem definition through implementation and validation.
• Manage scope, schedule, risk, and technical decisions across multiple concurrent projects.
• Serve as the single-point engineering owner for sustaining initiatives supporting manufacturing, field reliability, cost reduction, and supplier changes.
• Lead, manage, and mentor sustaining engineers, designers, and/or technicians.
• Plan, track, and report sustaining work using JIRA.
• Drive engineering change execution, including ECRs, BOM accuracy, revision control, and disposition planning.
• Maintain configuration control across assemblies and components.
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and field operations.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for production and field issues.
• Review technical work for quality, completeness, and process compliance.
