Job summary

Metric Bio seeks a Sustaining Engineer to join a growing medical device company delivering life-saving technology used in critical clinical procedures. You will sustain and advance existing devices, investigate issues and support verification activities across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing and Regulatory.

This high-ownership role offers ownership of design changes, CAPA, and work across electrical, mechanical and electromechanical systems with broad exposure, autonomy and direct impact on products

Qualifications

Job description

I'm hiring a Sustaining Engineer to join a growing medical device company developing life‑saving technology used in critical clinical procedures. With an expanding product portfolio and continued investment in R&D, this is an opportunity to take significant ownership of commercially released products while contributing to their continued development and improvement.

You’ll play a key role in sustaining and advancing existing medical devices, investigating technical issues, implementing engineering changes and supporting verification & validation activities. This is a broad, hands‑on engineering position working cross‑functionally across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing and Regulatory to solve problems and maintain product performance throughout the commercial lifecycle.

This is a high‑ownership engineering role where you’ll become a key technical resource for commercially released medical devices, solving complex product challenges and driving improvements throughout their lifecycle. You’ll have the opportunity to work across electrical, mechanical and electromechanical systems, with significant exposure across the wider organisation, making it particularly suited to an engineer who enjoys technical variety, autonomy and seeing the direct impact of their work on both the product and the patients it supports.

Key Experience:

• Experience in sustaining engineering, product development or post‑market engineering within medical devices or another regulated environment.
• Strong hands‑on troubleshooting and root cause investigation skills, with experience resolving technical product issues.
• Experience implementing engineering/design changes and supporting verification & validation activities.
• Understanding of design controls, CAPA and technical documentation within a regulated product lifecycle.
• Broad technical foundation across electrical, mechanical, biomedical or electromechanical engineering.
• Comfortable taking ownership and working cross‑functionally within a fast‑paced, collaborative engineering environment.
