Job summary

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) is seeking a seasoned Architecture Project Lead to guide design teams through complex projects worldwide. You will collaborate with SOM Partners to ensure design excellence, technical rigor and financial performance, while maintaining client satisfaction.

The role emphasizes leadership, risk management, and proactive communication across interdisciplinary teams, with opportunities to influence sustainable strategies and firm standards.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture and licensure near completion; LEED accreditation preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of experience or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Fluency in Spanish preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and manage project schedule, budget and program.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with LEED or other green building rating systems.

Responsibilities

• Leads the Architectural Project Team with SOM leadership to achieve design, technical and financial success.
• Prepares quality agreements with clients including letters of intent and service agreements; gains authorization by phase.
• Collaborates with Partners to prepare, issue, and manage compliance plans including budget, deliverables and schedule.
• Administers internal control procedures with Project Accountant including billing, collections, and year-end activities.
• Participates actively in project design and technical discussions and decision making.
• Communicates actively through weekly meetings, minutes, and project records.
• Assists in managing owner/client relationships and expectations to work effectively.
• Participates in new business and marketing efforts including responses to marketing requests.
