Job summary

The City of Lakewood is seeking a Sustainability Planner to support its sustainability goals through policy development, program implementation, and cross-department collaboration. The role includes climate action planning, sustainable land-use, transportation, and data reporting.

Responsibilities include public engagement, staff reports, and outreach materials, with occasional evening/weekend hours. Two years of sustainability experience and a relevant degree are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in sustainability planning, environmental science, urban planning, public administration or related field.
• Two years of experience in sustainability.
• Experience developing policy and implementing programs.
• Experience working with diverse communities and public officials.
• Experience with data management, reporting and interactive information sharing.
• Experience with web content management systems and social media communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop resources, policies, and programs aligned with the City’s Sustainability goals.
• Focus on sustainable land-use, policy, climate action, and transportation.
• Engage the public and stakeholders; prepare staff reports and outreach materials.
• Communicate findings publicly with clear data reporting and visuals.
• Collaborate across departments and manage multiple projects and timelines.
