Job description

A Brief Overview

The Sustainability Manager will play a critical role in advancing MiTek's sustainability and climate strategy. The primary responsibility is managing the company’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions program, regulatory climate disclosures, performance tracking, and sustainability reporting infrastructure. This role will serve as a central connector across functions—operations, finance, legal, communications, and facilities—translating complex data and evolving regulatory requirements into clear, actionable insights.

The ideal candidate is a strong project manager and systems thinker who is comfortable working in ambiguity, influencing without authority, and helping shape sustainability programs in a growing and evolving environment.

Responsibilities
  • GHG Emissions & Data Management
    • Project manage MiTek's annual GHG data collection and calculation process, coordinating across global sites and functions to ensure data quality, completeness, and timeliness.
    • Ensure alignment with recognized standards (e.g., GHG Protocol) to support year‑over‑year consistency and audit readiness.
    • Support the evolution of emissions tracking capabilities as MiTek expands its sustainability and climate programs.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Support
    • Support compliance with applicable climate and emissions‑related regulatory and parent company reporting requirements.
    • Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape and translate requirements into internal actions, timelines, and reporting deliverables.
  • Sustainability Reporting & Digital Content
    • Own the annual sustainability report process, updating it annually to reflect prior‑year performance, metrics, and progress against goals.
    • Partner with Communications and Marketing to produce the report, ensuring content is accurate, clear, and aligned with MiTek's broader narrative and brand.
  • Targets, Performance & Governance
    • Lead the development of internal sustainability and climate targets, including emissions‑related goals, and manage performance tracking against those targets over time.
    • Prepare internal updates and summaries to support leadership visibility, decision‑making, and governance processes.
  • Climate Risk & Strategic Initiatives
    • Support MiTek's biannual climate risk assessment process and contribute to related disclosures and reporting.
    • Drive cross‑functional sustainability initiatives that strengthen MiTek's long‑term resilience, regulatory readiness, and strategic positioning.
    • Identify opportunities based on findings in data to make improvements; collaborate with appropriate teams to create and execute a plan.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education that clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate sustainability, ESG, climate reporting, or a related field. A technical background (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, or facilities management) with an interest in sustainability is acceptable.
  • Working familiarity with sustainability and climate terminology, frameworks, and concepts (e.g., GHG Protocol, climate risk, regulatory disclosures).
  • A willingness to continually learn and stay abreast of regulatory requirements, standards, and science.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross‑functional projects with multiple stakeholders and competing timelines.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to translate data into clear insights and narratives.
  • Proven ability to lead with influence, build trust across functions, and operate effectively in ambiguous or evolving environments.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
