Job summary

WATG is seeking a Sustainability Designer for our Los Angeles, CA office. The role focuses on reducing environmental impact through life cycle assessments, climate-aware design, and high-performance architecture across master planning, interiors, and landscape projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Architecture or Building Science with LEED/WELL experience, and 3+ years in architecture. Proficiency in ClimateStudio, Rhino, Revit, and related tools is expected.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Architecture, Building Science, or a related field
  • Professional license or certificates (LEED, WELL) preferred
  • Experience with LEED, WELL, or SITE certifications
  • Minimum 3 years on architecture-related projects
  • Knowledge of decarbonization strategies and emissions inventories
  • Familiarity with AIA 2030 Challenge reporting
  • Ability to analyze data to advance sustainable master planning
  • Proficiency in climate and environmental assessment tools
  • Strong technical and visual communication skills
  • Team player with ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects

Responsibilities

  • Curates high-performance project solutions to help decarbonize the built environment for master planning, architecture, interiors, and landscape teams
  • Simulates life cycle assessments to forecast carbon debt and establish reduction measures
  • Conducts sustainability training workshops
  • Leads tracking/reporting of project vitals for AIA 2030 and RIBA 2030 reporting
  • Develops in-house environmental design and workflow guides
  • Assists the Director on large projects and climate action initiatives
  • Supports marketing and business development with winning proposals
