JOB SUMMARY
The Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for identifying, coordinating and leading activities in support of Moody Gardens sustainability efforts. The position will work with departments across property and with the community to achieve these efforts.

The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
POSITION GUIDELINES
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop, write and coordinate implementation of a Sustainability Plan for the company, including goals, strategies and action items centered on waste management, water management and resource management
- Work with Maintenance department to monitor resource consumption for the organization
- Coordinate and conduct audits for waste, recycling and resource use as needed
- Continually analyze waste and recycling programs and identify opportunities to divert landfill waste
- Work with Gardens to implement and maintain a compost program
- Assist Curator of Conservation and Education with seeking incentives, grants and other opportunities for funding or support
- Develop sustainability awareness and behavior change programs for staff and guests to support and encourage sustainability practices
- Coordinate the annual green practices report for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Annual Report on Conservation and Science (ARCS)
- Participate in conservation activities with partner organizations
- Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
Qualifications: EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the field of Environmental Sciences or related field
- Familiarity with LEED certification
- Strong project management experience
- Experience delivering staff and/or community-facing programs

- Must have knowledge of modern safety procedures and hazardous material handling
- Must have knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations
- Must be able to plan, implement, adapt, and improve programs based on evaluation and adaptive management practices.

- Must be able to travel as needed including domestic and international
- Must represent Moody Gardens in a professional manner with all guests
- Ability to work around animals that may sting, bite, or pose other risks

- Ability to remain on feet, standing or walking, in adverse environments for long periods of time
