Qualifications

  • APQP program management experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project and data analysis.
  • Experience with CAD/CAE/Math software desirable.
  • Experience tracking and reporting design changes.
  • Japanese language ability is a benefit.
  • Experience with shocks, struts, automotive suspension components desirable.
  • Self-starter with occasional ability to work remote from home.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all product development activities between OEM customers and company departments.
  • Translate customer requirements into actionable tasks within the company.
  • Lead and manage program QCD timing as project engineer.
  • Oversee design, vehicle interaction, and cascade requirements to support teams.
  • Communicate with OEMs on product issues and improvement actions.
  • Review warranty data and drive internal actions to improve quality.
  • Create test plans and support lab testing for related products.
  • Support sales in marketing and pricing strategies.
  • Support customer vehicle development work.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Lead root cause analyses and problem solving.
  • Coordinate CAD/CAE activities to meet development needs.
  • Maintain autonomy on assigned deliverables with guidance as needed.

General Responsibilities

Under broad guidance of a higher-level engineer or manager, the primary responsibility of this position is to design, plan, test, and coordinate multiple processes of product development used in automotive electronic suspension damper design and application.

Under broad guidance of a higher-level engineer or manager, the primary responsibility of this position is to design, plan, test, and coordinate multiple processes of product development used in automotive electronic suspension damper design and application.

Job Responsibilities
  • Individual will be responsible for coordinating all product development activities between OEM customer and responsible departments within the company.
  • Individual will need to comprehend and transfer customer requirements to responsible activities within the company.
  • Facilitate and manage program QCD timing in the role of project engineer.
  • Facilitate and manage component and system level design, and vehicle interaction, cascading the requirement as necessary to the respective support teams.
  • Directly communicate and interface with OEM customers for issues regarding the products, including customers’ related concerns and/or improvement actions.
  • Review and interface with OEM customer for warranty data, initiate and coordinate actions internally to improve quality.
  • Create test plans, conduct and/or support lab testing necessary for related products.
  • Support sales staff to develop and establish marketing/pricing strategy.
  • Support customer vehicle development work.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 requirements to support job responsibilities.
  • Occasional meetings outside of core business hours with other global Astemo and OEM sites.
  • Lead problem solving and failure root cause analysis activities.
  • Work as core coordinator of a global cross functional team applying effective verbal and written communication skills is a must.
  • Support and facilitate necessary CAD/CAE activity to meet new development requirements and/or address internal/customer concerns.
  • Ability to travel and support activities and coordination at the global level is required.
  • Manage / lead assigned program deliverables with a high degree of autonomy, consulting with a higher-level engineer or manager for direction on complex or unusual matters.
Qualifications (Education, Skills And/or Special Knowledge)

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have working knowledge and experience with APQP program management.
  • Be proficient with
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • Microsoft Project
    • Data analysis and ability to draw conclusions to support problem solving.
  • Experience with the following is desired, (not required)
    • CAD software (i.e. 3Dx, V5, UG, Solidworks preferred)
    • CAE/FEA software (i.e. ANSYS)
    • Math software - Matlab/Simulink
    • Statistical software – i.e. Minitab
  • Have experience tracking and reporting design changes.
  • Capability in spoken and written Japanese language is a benefit.
  • Experience with shocks, struts, automotive suspension components highly desirable.
  • Self-starter with occasional ability to work remote from home.
Education

Possess a bachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or equivalent)

Experience

Have a minimum of 5 years experience in automotive or similar field with launch experience.

Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Travel: Some domestic and international travel may be required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
