Job summary

Wegmans is seeking a Sushi Line Cook to help prepare fresh sushi rolls and assist customers with made-to-order requests in a fast-paced store setting. Learn traditional techniques from experienced sushi chefs while maintaining high standards of quality and food safety.

Responsibilities include preparing ingredients, rolling sushi, and maintaining a clean kitchen. 1+ years of kitchen experience, basic knife skills, and customer service experience are preferred. A bonus up to $1,000 is offered.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of kitchen experience, preferably in sushi or Japanese restaurant.
• Basic knife skills and familiarity with sushi products.
• Collective customer service experience, preferably in food service, grocery or retail setting.
• Experience working as a line cook is preferred.
• Food preparation experience.

As a Sushi Line Cook, you will help prepare fresh, high-quality sushi rolls to be sold in our store, as well as help customers with any made-to-order or special requests. Experience cutting sashimi and sushi neta; Experience working as a Sushi cook; Experience in Sushi preparation in a high volume retail environment; Work Environment: The physical demands of this work are classified as medium. Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements including forceful pinching and gripping as well as awkward and forceful postures of the wrist, bending, reaching, frequent lifting, and occasional heavy lifting, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. The average weight range of items lifted is 5 – 20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely. Upper extremity repetition is moderate to moderately high and trunk movement involves moderate twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction).The work environment is indoors with exposure to cold (33 – 55 degrees) temperatures near hot equipment (exceeds 135 degrees).
