Job summary

New Leaf Community Markets, Inc. is seeking a Sushi Clerk for our Sushi Department in Half Moon Bay, CA. You will prepare sushi items, assist customers, and maintain cleanliness while following company recipes and service standards.

The role requires basic math, strong communication, and the ability to stand for long periods in a grocery store environment. This nonexempt position reports to the Sushi Manager and supports a team-focused atmosphere.

Qualifications

Job Title: Sushi Clerk

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Sushi Clerk is responsible for providing service that exceeds the expectations of customers by performing the following duties (other duties may be assigned):

• Prepares sushi in quantities according to the menu and number of people served.
• Prepares all sushi items according to company recipes.
• Prepares all sushi items using proper kitchen equipment.
• Serves customers with a smile and a willing attitude. Assures high sales through establishing relationships with customers to ensure repeat business.
• Follow the employee handbook at all times, especially on service standards and appearance.
• At all times meets and exceeds company standards in food, service, quality, and cleanliness.

Education and/or Experience

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the Sushi Clerk is regularly required to stand for long periods; walk; frequently use hands; hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Sushi Clerk occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The Sushi Clerk is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Sushi Clerk must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.

This position may require to use of the following tools and equipment: box knife, baler, scanner, hand truck, POS, conveyer belt, industrial kitchen equipment (i.e. blast chiller, grill, knives/blades, oven, grills, scales, etc.), basic housekeeping / janitorial and standard office equipment.

Work Environment

Work occurs in a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise levels, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer, and depending on location, working outside in all temperatures.
