Job summary

Sherwood Surveying & S.U.E. is seeking a Surveyor-in-Training (S.I.T.) at our Spring Branch, Texas location. This role assists a RPLS in a variety of surveying services.

The candidate should have 3+ years of surveying experience and be registered as an S.I.T. in Texas, with knowledge of GPS methods and map preparation. Competitive benefits are offered and training opportunities will be provided.

Qualifications

• Associates in land surveying or equivalent experience required.
• S.I.T. registered in Texas.
• 3 years minimum surveying experience.
• Knowledge of cross-country utility surveying methods.
• Knowledge of GPS survey methods and data collection.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Process GPS data to obtain results.
• Calculate coordinates for survey control and measurements.
• Prepare tract, parcel, Record of Survey, ALTA maps and related documents.
• Perform field checks and update maps before delivery to client.
• Set stakes and monuments and clear lines as needed.
• Read title commitments and architectural plans.
• Review survey data for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain communication with the RPLS regarding progress and issues.

Job description

Sherwood Surveying & S.U.E is seeking a qualified Surveyor-in-Training (S.I.T.) at our Spring Branch, Texas location. This position will be responsible for assisting a RPLS in a variety of surveying services.

Responsibilities

• Process data collected via Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to obtain necessary results
• Perform calculations to establish coordinates for survey control and survey measurements
• Prepare tentative and final tract maps, parcel maps, Record of Survey maps, ALTA maps, corner records, right‑of‑way maps, and similar documents from a variety of source documents and data
• Perform field checks, correct, and supplement maps prior to delivery to a client
• Physical tasks such as pounding stakes, setting monuments, clearing line, etc.
• Read and understand title commitments, engineering and architectural plans
• Processes and reviews survey data for completeness and accuracy
• Maintains close communications with the RPLS to report survey progress, problems with and possible resolution to pertinent issues hampering project survey completion

Qualifications

• Associates in land surveying or equivalent experience, required
• B.S. Degree in land surveying is a plus
• S.I.T. registered in Texas
• 3 years minimum surveying experience
• Must be knowledgeable in the methods and techniques of cross‑country utility surveying
• Must have knowledge in Global Positioning Systems (GPS) survey methods, electronic data collection, the processes and computer programs necessary for survey data review and transfer to mapping
• Physical requirements including walking over uneven terrain and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
