Job summary

The Liesfeld Surveyor position is a full-time, field-based role supporting civil construction projects in the Greater Richmond region. You will perform field layout, establish and maintain survey control, verify grades and elevations, and ensure work aligns with plans and specifications.

Collaborating with Project Managers, engineers, superintendents, and field crews, you’ll identify and resolve field issues to keep projects on schedule and built to design intent.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of hands‑on civil construction surveying experience.
  • Proficiency with Topcon GPS/GNSS systems, total stations, and digital levels.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and grades and read drawings accurately.

Job description

Overview

The Surveyor is a full-time, field-based position supporting civil construction projects throughout the Greater Richmond region. This role is responsible for performing field layout, establishing and maintaining survey control, verifying grades and elevations, and ensuring construction activities align with plans, specifications, and design requirements. Working closely with Project Managers, engineers, superintendents, and field crews, the Surveyor helps ensure projects are built accurately, efficiently, and to specification while identifying and resolving potential issues in the field. The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of hands‑on civil construction surveying experience, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with modern surveying equipment, including Topcon GPS/GNSS systems, total stations, and digital levels. Candidates should be comfortable working independently in the field, interpreting construction plans and grades, and operating effectively in a fast‑paced construction environment.
