Job summary

William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company, is seeking a Surveyor for project work in Terre Haute, IN, with duties in Indianapolis and Clinton. Under the supervision of the Party Chief, you will verify conformance of installations and perform layout and inspection for various project activities.

You will record survey results, mark measurements, and prepare documentation to attest to testing activities.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience producing accurate as-built documentation and coordinating final drawing turn-ins.
  • Strong background in construction surveying with layout verification.
  • Proficiency with Trimble GPS surveying equipment (required).
  • Ability to work on largescale industrial or process plant projects preferred.
  • RLS is a plus; high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Record survey results including elevation, location, and dimensions.
  • Mark points of measurement and read station numbers in notebooks.
  • Measure distances between survey points and place stakes at designated elevations.
  • Load/unload equipment and prepare for daily jobs.
  • Maintain professional conduct with clients and co-workers.

William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company is in search for a Surveyor for project work in Terre Haute, IN.

Under supervision of Party Chief, applies skills and knowledge to determine degree of conformance of installation of materials and equipment to MasTec Industrial and/or Client specifications. Performs inspection and/or layout of various project activities. Completes documentation to attest to satisfactory inspection or test activities.

Responsibilities
  • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures
  • Record the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
  • Calls out reading or writes station number and reading in notebook.
  • Marks points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying mark.
  • Measures distance between survey points with steel or cloth tape or surveyor's chain.
  • Marks measuring points with markers, paint sticks, tacks, scribe, or stakes.
  • Holds level or stadia rod at designated points to assist in determining elevations and laying out stakes for mapmaking, construction, land, and other surveys. Place stakes at designated points and drives them into ground at specified elevation.
  • Cuts and clears brush and trees or other possible obstructions from line of survey.
  • Load/unload equipment and prepare for daily jobs.
  • Assume other special activities and responsibilities from time to time as assigned
  • Exercises own initiative in seeking additional work, or helping others complete their job assignments upon completion of regular work assignment
  • Continually work to sharpen skills and improve on the understanding of surveying
  • Punctual in work assignments
  • Conduct self in a professional manner in the presence of clients and co-workers
  • Capable of determining calibration status of measuring and test equipment
  • Interacts cross-functionally with craft personnel and other team members.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience producing accurate as-built documentation and coordinating final drawing turn-ins
  • Strong background in construction surveying, including shooting anchor bolts, setting elevations, and layout verification
  • Proficiency with Trimble GPS surveying equipment (required)
  • Ability to work effectively on largescale industrial or process plant projects (chemical, ammonia, or similar facilities preferred)
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • RLS is a plus.
