Gateway Engineers in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a full-time, in-person Survey Crew Lead to oversee on-site field operations, perform adjustments on transits and total stations, and ensure precise data collection for boundary, topographic, and site surveys. The role requires a recognized survey credential or equivalent experience.

The ideal candidate holds an associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying or related field, plus capability in ALTA tasks and plan reading.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, algebra, coordinate geometry, and basic surveying computations.
• Experience drafting, ALTA preparation, and construction stakeout.
• Ability to interpret control point records and data sheets.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, direct, and perform surveying crew activities.
• Perform field adjustments on transits, total stations, data collectors, levels, and related gear.
• Record field notes for leveling, traversing, mapping, surveys, and profiles.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee, direct, and perform the activities of the assigned surveying crew.
• Responsible for the field adjustments on transits, total stations, total electronic stations, data collectors and codes, levels, compasses, and tripods.
• Knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, algebra, coordinate geometry, and basic surveying computations.
• Responsible for survey instruments and equipment.
• Responsible for the field notes for standard surveying operations: leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, profile and cross-section surveys.
• Skilled knowledge of how to interpret control point records and data sheets, as well as locate points in the field.
• Skilled knowledge of basic plan reading and preparation (i.e. site plans, boundary plans, highway plans, profile and cross sections, horizontal and vertical curves, pipeline plans, foundation plans, and developing existing and finished contours).

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

• Writing descriptions of surveys.
• Searching legal records, survey records, and land titles.
• Drafting, ALTA preparation, and construction stakeout.
• Boundary and topographic.
• Interpreting and verifying survey data.
• Performing field survey calculations.
• Indoor/outdoor work.

This opportunity requires:
