Job summary

CS Beatty Construction is seeking a Surveying Assistant to support our field crews and office staff in collecting, recording, and processing land survey data. This hands-on role offers outdoor work, attention to detail, and a path to build a career in land surveying.

You will assist with boundary and ALTA surveys, operate GPS/GNSS receivers and total stations, and help prepare field data for processing. Must be 18+, have a valid license, and be able to pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• High School diploma or equivalent (Preferred).
• Must pass a physical examination, drug screen, and criminal background check.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
• Basic math skills, including measurements, angles, and simple geometry.

Responsibilities

• Assist with boundary, topographic, construction staking, and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
• Set up, operate, and maintain survey equipment (GPS/GNSS, total stations, levels, data collectors).
• Locate and uncover property corners, monuments, and control points.
• Set stakes, hubs, iron pins, and other markers according to plans.
• Clear brush and line of sight with hand tools.
• Record field notes and measurements clearly and accurately.
• Help download, organize, and back up field data for office processing.
• Assist with basic drafting or data entry in office software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with boundary, topographic, construction staking, and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
• Set up, operate, and maintain survey equipment, including GPS/GNSS receivers, robotic total stations, levels, and data collectors.
• Locate and uncover property corners, monuments, and control points using metal detectors and hand tools.
• Set stakes, hubs, iron pins, and other markers accurately according to plans.
• Clear brush and line of sight using hand tools such as machetes and loppers.
• Record field notes and measurements clearly and accurately.
• Help download, organize, and back up field data for office processing.
• Assist with basic drafting or data entry in office software as needed.

Follow all safety procedures on job sites, including traffic control and PPE requirements
