Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking entry-level field survey crew members to support multiple surveying operations across boundary, topographic, and construction layouts. You will operate and assist with robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, and other survey instruments in outdoor environments.

As part of SAM, you will gather geospatial data, perform computations, and learn through hands-on experience while traveling as needed and adhering to safety practices.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet MVR standards.
  • No prior surveying experience required; willingness to learn and work outdoors.
  • Interest in land surveying, construction, or civil engineering.
  • Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather and carry up to 80 lbs.
  • Available to travel or stay out of town as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support field crew by using land survey instruments for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
  • Assist Crew Chief in setting up and operating survey equipment including robotic total stations and GNSS receivers.
  • Collect geospatial data and perform survey computations with software tools.
  • Read and interpret maps and plans under guidance from the Crew Chief.
  • Record accurate field notes, measurements, and sketches with supervision.
  • Load/unload trucks and maintain survey equipment and supplies; follow safety procedures.

Your Impact at SAM


  • Use a variety of land survey instruments to support a field crew in their daily operations to gather data for various surveys including boundary, topographic, and construction layout

  • Support the Crew Chief by helping to set up and operate survey equipment, including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems, terrestrial 3D laser scanners, automatic and digital levels

  • Utilize survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations

  • Read and interpret various types of maps and plans with guidance from the Crew Chief

  • Record accurate field notes, measurements, and sketches for land survey operations with supervision from Crew Chief

  • Load and unload trucks, clean and maintain land survey equipment and supplies

  • Follow company safety procedures, policies, and practices


What You Bring to SAM


  • High School diploma or equivalent required
