Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking a field survey support role to assist crews with boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. You will operate survey instruments and collect geospatial data under the guidance of a Crew Chief, maintaining accurate notes and reports.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver7s license is required.
• One year industry experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of land surveying practices and basic computations is expected.
• Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
• Able to travel/out of town as needed.

Responsibilities

• Use land survey instruments to support field crews for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
• Assist in completing field surveys under supervision of Crew Chief; communicate progress and issues.
• Operate land survey equipment including robotic total stations and GNSS receivers.
• Utilize survey software to collect geospatial data and perform computations.
• Read and interpret maps and plans.
• Maintain neat field notes with accurate measurements under supervision.
• Load/unload equipment and supplies for field operations.
• Clean and maintain survey tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Follow company safety procedures and practices.
• Travel to project locations with full per diem.

Your Impact at SAM

• Use a variety of land survey instruments to support a field crew in their daily operations to gather data for various surveys including boundary, topographic, and construction layout
• Assist in completion of field surveys under the supervision of a Crew Chief; communicate progress and address problems
• Operate land survey equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems, terrestrial 3D laser scanners, automatic and digital levels
• Utilize survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations
• Read and interpret various types of maps and plans
• Complete neat and orderly field notes with accurate measurements for land survey operations with supervision from Crew Chief
• Load and unload trucks with land survey equipment and supplies
• Clean and maintain land survey equipment, tools, and vehicle
• Follow company safety procedures, policies, and practices
• Ability to travel out of state to project locations (Full Per Diem included)

What You Bring to SAM

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Valid, current driver’s license required
• One year industry experience
• Minimum knowledge of land surveying practices and performance of basic types of surveys, mathematical computations, and field operations
• Able to work outdoors year-round in all types of weather conditions and environments
• Available to travel/stay out of town for work as needed
