Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee survey crew field activities including plan and profile surveys, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and construction staking.
• Respond to survey requests from internal departments in a timely and professional manner.
• Gather accurate data points on property lines, land contours, and existing facilities.
• Serve as the primary office-to-field liaison between Engineering, Design, and Survey teams.
• Record all survey data using electronic data collectors in the field and download to office computers.

The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to data accuracy while effectively coordinating with internal teams, government agencies, and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee survey crew field activities including plan and profile surveys, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and construction staking
• Respond to survey requests from various internal departments in a timely and professional manner
• Gather accurate data points on property lines, land contours, and existing facilities
• Serve as the primary office-to-field liaison between Engineering, Design, and Survey teams
• Record all survey data using electronic data collectors in the field and download collected data to office computers
• Research land records and identify and resolve physical problems encountered in the field expediently
• Analyze downloaded survey data to ensure the integrity of feature codes and line strings
• Assist office personnel in completing necessary final documents and drawings
• Communicate effectively with private land survey companies, engineering firms, government agencies, and the general public
• Maintain a strong understanding of survey procedures and stay current on emerging technologies and instrumentation

Skills

• Proficiency with electronic data collectors and field surveying equipment
• Strong knowledge of survey procedures including topographic, boundary, and construction staking methods
• Ability to research and interpret land records and legal descriptions
• Data analysis skills with attention to feature code and line string integrity
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental and external coordination
• Strong problem-solving abilities with capacity to resolve field issues quickly and independently
• Ability to lead and direct field crew members effectively
• Commitment to staying current with advancements in surveying technology and instrumentation

Experience

• Previous experience in a field survey role with demonstrated leadership of survey crews
• Hands-on experience conducting plan and profile, topographic, boundary, and construction staking surveys
• Experience downloading and analyzing field data using office-based survey software
• Prior coordination with engineering firms, government agencies, or utility organizations is preferred

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, or a related field preferred
• Licensure or progress toward licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) is a plus
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
