Responsibilities

  • Use Trimble Business Center to process field data and prepare files for AutoCAD import.
  • Create survey base drawings from field data, sketches, photos, and reference maps.
  • Produce detailed subdivision maps, ALTA surveys, and topographic surveys in AutoCAD.
  • Prepare legal descriptions and exhibits for right of way and easements.
  • Perform QA/QC on work-in-progress and completed drawings.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by management.

Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Survey Technician will execute technically complex land surveying assignments with an emphasis on ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys and boundary analysis. The Survey Technician will review survey maps, title commitments, legal descriptions, and other record documents to assess technical accuracy and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, federal, and industry surveying standards.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

Employees, Managers, and Supervisors throughout the corporation.

MAJOR TASKS

  • Perform research of county, city, and other sources of record information on easements, deeds and other pertinent information, and utilize it to prepare working sketches for field crews.
  • Utilize Trimble Business Center software to process field crew data and produce files for import into AutoCAD.
  • Use field crew data files (points), field sketches, photos and reference maps to create survey base drawings.
  • Utilize AutoCAD software to produce detailed subdivision maps, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, and other various survey related maps or exhibits.
  • Prepare legal descriptions and exhibits for right of way, easements, acquisition parcels, etc.
  • Perform QA/QC procedures on work prepared by themselves and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of mathematics used in field survey analysis.
  • Thorough understanding and ability to apply methods and standards of technical report writing and computer-assisted surveying applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of maps, title reports, and legal descriptions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software used to draft reports and letters.

STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE

Topographic OM, Inc. in office Standard business hours is Monday-Friday from 6am-7pm.

The specific schedule for this role will be based on location and department.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

TRAVEL

Travel to worksites may be required.
