Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. seeks a survey support professional to assist outdoor surveying projects across diverse locations. You will perform boundary data collection, drafting, field data collection, and field crew support, collaborating with project teams and licensed surveyors.

The role requires knowledge of CAD drafting, surveying concepts, and fieldwork in varying conditions. Travel to remote areas is possible; a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in surveying, engineering tech, or related field.
  • High school diploma with 3 years paraprofessional field/office survey experience.
  • Part 107 certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform survey calculations, CAD drafting, map prep, and record drawings research.
  • Conduct field surveys to establish site control and collect data.
  • Collaborate with licensed surveyors, engineers, and staff.
  • Draft property boundary descriptions for deeds and leases.
  • Other duties as needed.

Your Opportunity

Working under the direction of a Professional Land Surveyor, you will support a variety of outdoor surveying projects across diverse locations. Responsibilities include public record research, boundary and right-of-way calculations, drafting mapping-related deliverables, and collecting boundary, topographic, and planimetric field data. You may also help schedule and prepare field crews, support construction-staking calculations and reports, and ensure survey equipment is maintained, repaired, and calibrated as needed.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for survey calculations, analysis, CAD drafting, and map preparation, abstracting title data, record drawings research, and internal coordination.

  • Responsible for performing field surveying services to establish site control, perform data collection, construction staking, or other services.

  • Work directly with project team members, licensed surveyors, engineers, and technical staff.

  • Writes descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Requires basic knowledge of occupational hazards, and safety precautions.

  • Demonstrates some experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center and/or equivalent.

  • Understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of survey work.

  • Understanding of how to interpret engineering plans, legal descriptions, and deeds.

  • Working knowledge of field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations, preferably Trimble.

  • Ability to solve complex problems using creativity, and innovation.

  • Demonstrates strong math skills, including algebra and trigonometry.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.

  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.

  • Ability to work 10-12 hour days in remote or rural areas.

  • Willing to work out of town/travel.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Please Note: Project assignments may involve client-required drug testing.

Education and Experience
  • Associate’s degree in surveying, engineering, engineering technology, or a related field; no prior experience required.

  • High school diploma and three years of paraprofessional field and/or office experience performing routine survey work using modern technology and procedures.

  • Part 107 certification preferred, but not required.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
