WSP USA is seeking a Survey Technician to join the Geomatics team in Lawrenceville, NJ. This full-time role focuses on office production with potential field guidance, supporting diverse internal and external projects.

Responsibilities include producing survey plans, setting up files for field crews, processing data, and reviewing control. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, Bentley OpenRoads, Leica Infinity, and MS Office is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; higher education preferred in land surveying or related field.
• 5+ years in land surveying/geospatial services (3+ years with degree).
• Experience with CAD/ surveying tools: AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, Bentley OpenRoads, Leica Infinity.
• Experience in boundary research, title reviews, and initial boundary determinations.
• Experience in reviewing survey data and processing control; preparing legal descriptions.
• Willingness to learn; valid state driver’s license; pass vehicle screening.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; detail oriented and organized.
• Ability to work independently or in a team and adhere to safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Process and review survey data; perform initial boundary determinations for review.
• Collaborate with Lawrenceville, NJ survey teams and interact with clients by email, phone, or meetings.

• Maintain safety standards and adhere to company policies; flexible to project schedules.

This Opportunity

WSP is currently searching for a Survey Technician to join our Survey Geomatics team out of our Lawrenceville, NJ office. Be a part of a growing group of survey professionals working on a wide variety of internal and external projects and help our clients meet their objectives and solve their challenges.

Your Impact

• This is a full-time position performing survey office work in a production role under the guidance of the management team.
• Candidates may also work with and provide guidance to Field Staff when needed.
• Candidates will work with one of our survey teams out of our Lawrenceville, NJ office.
• Candidates will be responsible for the production of survey plans and other deliverables, prepare setup files for field crews, perform research, compile records, process and review survey data, make initial boundary placement determinations and initial adjustments to survey control for review by the management team prior to approval by a PLS.
• Candidates will utilize a variety of drafting programs, survey data processing programs, project tracking programs, Microsoft office products, and other types of software on a daily basis.
• Candidates can expect to work on a wide variety of survey projects in different sectors such as commercial, transportation, environmental, industrial, institutional, and energy projects.
• Candidates may interact with clients by email, phone, or during meetings and need to represent WSP in a positive and professional manner.
• Candidates may be asked to perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required but ideal candidates will have obtained higher education in the field of land surveying or an associated field.
• 5+ years of experience in the field of land surveying and geospatial services or 3+ years if the candidate has a degree in land surveying.
• Experience in any or all of the following: AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, Bentley OpenRoads, Leica Infinity.
• Experience in performing boundary research, reviewing title reports, compiling records, and making initial boundary determinations.
• Experience in reviewing survey data and processing survey control.
• Experience in preparing legal descriptions.
• Possess a willingness to learn.
• Valid state driver’s license. Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills and should be detail oriented and organized.
• Ability to work independently with supervision or as part of a team to complete office tasks related to land surveying.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and be willing to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred.
• Possess LSIT or CST certifications.
• Possess survey experience working on projects with the various public agencies that operate in this region (NJDOT, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, PENNDOT, NJ turnpike Authority, PANYNJ, etc.).

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $69,000 - $89,000
