Job summary

Power Design, Inc. is seeking a Survey Specialist to support digital layout planning and field execution across our projects.

You will work with VDC, Operations, and field teams to implement total station workflows, train staff on-site, and help ensure layouts meet contract and design intent while upholding ZERO-IN safety standards. You will contribute to on-site training, data collection, and collaboration across departments to optimize layout processes and project outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in vertical construction in a survey-related role with at least 1 year of total station experience (mechanical or robotic) + previous customer-facing or training experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Bluebeam, and data collector software
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, management, and execution of Power Design’s digital layout strategy
  • Oversee total station implementation and training on job sites; assist with troubleshooting as needed
  • Collaborate with stakeholders—including VDC, Operations Management, field teams, and GCs—to ensure accurate and efficient project layouts
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise to ensure projects are built per contract and design intent
  • Conduct field verifications, validations, and data collection to ensure layout accuracy
  • Provide efficiency reviews and identify value-engineering opportunities for layout processes
  • Research, identify, and test new layout technologies to improve field performance
  • Demonstrate proficiency with technology tools including Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, Icon, and Field Link Model and promote Power Design’s ZERO-IN safety standards on every project
  • Exhibit professionalism, responsiveness, and strong communication across all stakeholder groups
  • Participate in onboarding and training of new layout team members and promote knowledge sharing across projects

About the Position

As a Survey Specialist at Power Design, you will support the planning, management, and execution of our digital layout strategy, ensuring all projects are built with accuracy and precision. This position is part of the Leading Self II level, designed for individuals who apply foundational surveying and layout expertise with growing independence and consistency. Working closely with our VDC, Operations, and Field teams, you’ll oversee total station implementation, on-site training, and troubleshooting, contributing to the success of project execution while upholding Power Design’s ZERO-IN safety philosophy and core values of Integrity, Accountability, Teamwork, Innovation, and Growth.

Here’s What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma (or GED) + 3+ years of experience in vertical construction in a survey-related role with at least 1 year of total station experience (mechanical or robotic) + previous experience in a customer-facing or training role
  • Technology skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Bluebeam, and data collector software
  • Language: Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Strong understanding of digital layout, surveying principles, and construction documentation
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, handle multiple priorities, and maintain attention to detail
