Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services is seeking a Survey Practice Leader in South Florida. The role focuses on leading and growing the local survey practice, managing projects from proposal through completion, and mentoring staff while maintaining high deliverable quality.

You will develop survey methodologies, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and build strong client relationships with public agencies and stakeholders. A Florida PLS licensure or eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership in land surveying with experience managing teams and projects.
• Licensed PLS in Florida or eligible for licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
• Strong technical proficiency with GNSS, total stations, digital levels, data collectors, and CAD software.
• Experience delivering boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction layout, and as-built surveys.

Responsibilities

• Review survey data and drawings, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
• Mentor team members and contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, scopes, and budgets.

Role Description The Survey Practice Leader role is a full‑time, hybrid position based in South Florida. This role is responsible for leading and growing the local survey practice, including managing survey projects from proposal through completion, overseeing field and office survey staff, and ensuring high‑quality deliverables that meet client and regulatory requirements. The Survey Practice Leader will develop and implement survey methodologies, coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, and maintain strong relationships with clients, public agencies, and other stakeholders. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include reviewing survey data and drawings, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, mentoring team members, and contributing to business development by identifying opportunities, preparing scopes and budgets, and participating in client meetings. The role also involves supporting process improvements, adopting new technologies, and reinforcing Langan’s commitment to integrity, innovation, and client service.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership in land surveying practice, including managing survey teams, overseeing project delivery, and mentoring staff.
• Strong technical proficiency with survey methods and tools (e.g., GNSS, total stations, digital levels, data collectors, and survey/CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar).
• Experience delivering boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction layout, and as‑built surveys in support of land development and infrastructure projects.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with engineers, planners, environmental professionals, and external partners to integrate survey data into multidisciplinary projects.
• Proven skills in client communication, proposal preparation, scope and fee development, and participation in business development activities.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities, with attention to detail and quality control in survey documentation and deliverables.
• Working knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations, standards, and permitting requirements related to surveying and land development.
• Professional licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Florida, or eligibility to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
