Job summary

Galloway & Company Inc. seeks a Survey Party Chief to lead field crews through boundary surveys, topographic data collection, and construction staking. You will operate Trimble instruments and interpret plans to ensure data quality within the broader survey workflow.

With 4+ years of surveying experience, you will manage schedules, safety, and client communication while traveling regionally. A valid driver's license is required, and you will mentor junior staff in a collaborative, growth‑minded

Responsibilities

• Lead field crew in boundary surveys, ALTANSPS surveys, topographic data collection, and construction staking.
• Interpret engineering plans, legal descriptions, and deeds to collect accurate survey data.
• Operate and adjust instruments (total stations, GPS/GNSS) using Trimble hardware and software.
• Ensure safety, budget, and timelines while delivering high-quality data.

About the Role

As a Survey Party Chief you serve as the leader of a field crew taking charge of boundary surveys ALTANSPS surveys topographic data collection and construction staking With a strong foundation in the principles and practices of surveying you operate and adjust instruments such as total stations and GPSGNSS receivers including Trimble hardware and software like TSC3 Access and TBC Experience with laser scanning instruments is an added asset helping you tackle complex tasks with modern precision You know how to interpret engineering plans legal descriptions and deeds to collect all the data necessary for accurate and efficient survey work Whether youre leveling traversing or mapping a new subdivision you bring both skill and attention to detail Youre familiar with AutoCAD Civil 3D and although your focus is in the field you understand how your data integrates into the broader workflow With at least four years of experience youve developed a keen eye for both boundary lines and the construction process You know how projects progress on site and can stake accurately using alignments templates and detailed construction plansensuring that each phase is executed correctly Youre also conscious of budgets timelines and safety procedures and you lead your team with the professionalism and efficiency that clients have come to expect from Galloway Beyond technical skills you are a communicator You keep your team informed interact effectively with other disciplines on shared projects and represent Galloway in a way that strengthens client relationships Your field performance helps drive new business development simply by delivering excellent work that clients trust Youre licensed to drive and ready to travel as needed sometimes on short notice for assignments across the region In addition to being self directed you thrive in a leadership roleable to operate independently while managing your crew with a calm and capable demeanor
