JR Engineering, LLC is seeking a Party Chief to lead a survey crew in Colorado. The role covers residential, boundary, topographic, and construction staking tasks on diverse projects.

You will supervise field crews, review plans, and ensure quality, safety, and timely delivery on site, with emphasis on accurate field data and client communication.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of field survey experience.
• Valid, current driver's license required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Advanced technical survey knowledge.

Job description

Areas of service include land development, surveying, surface transportation, water resources, and structural engineering as well as construction services in each of our major disciplines. Our in-house staff of talented engineers, surveyors, and support personnel enables us to respond quickly to demanding assignments, project schedules, and changing project scopes. With an annual Net Revenue of $18.5 million in 2025, JR Engineering currently has 100 employees with plans to grow to 120 employees over the next 3-5 years.

Job Summary:

The Party Chief is responsible for leading a survey crew in completion of assigned tasks. Ability to perform all types of survey projects including: Residential Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, and Construction Staking.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintain all field records including field notes, construction cut sheets and electronic data files.
• Ability to understand Land Surveys, Subdivision Plats, and Construction Plans and utilize this understanding in the completion of tasks via field calculations or QC of office calculations.
• Ability to plan projects and utilize best field procedures to complete tasks to the standard of quality expected as efficiently as possible.
• Reports to the Field Survey Project Lead on the crew's progress on a daily basis, and is responsible for the accuracy and productivity of the survey crew.
• Interfaces with clients and contractors on jobsites to keep abreast of their schedules and needs.
• Responsible for vehicle and survey equipment maintenance and cleanliness.
• Responsible for crew's safety and ensures that training and equipment to do the job properly and safely are maintained.
• Responsible for the teaching and mentoring of the instrument operator assigned to the crew.
• Responsible for quality and completeness of tasks assigned.

• Proficient in use of Trimble equipment, including Data Collector functions, GNSS systems, and Robotic Total Stations.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Advanced technical survey knowledge.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of field survey experience.
• Valid, current driver's license required.
