FirstFour Staffing is seeking a Survey Party Chief to lead a survey crew across the Mobile/Baldwin County area, overseeing fieldwork, data collection, and reporting under the supervision of a Professional Land Surveyor.

Travel is required for various projects, including occasional overnight stays depending on workload. The role demands hands-on field surveying, accurate calculations, and strong leadership of a field crew.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of verifiable experience leading a survey crew.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Travel and occasional overnight stays may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the daily activities of the survey crew in the field.
• Set up and complete surveying activities at job sites under the direction of a Professional Land Surveyor and/or project supervisor.
• Operate a variety of surveying equipment and accurately collect and interpret field data.
• Perform field calculations and coordinate geometry/trigonometry calculations related to survey data.
• Interpret construction plans, blueprints, plats, deeds, and other project documents to effectively direct field activities.
• Perform surveying and construction stakeout activities for commercial and heavy industrial projects.
• Reduce, organize, and accurately report survey data to the appropriate manager or project lead.
• Complete and submit accurate daily work logs and field documentation.
• Coordinate crew schedules and effectively manage time to meet project deadlines.
• Safely operate a company vehicle to and from project sites.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate project updates, issues, and field conditions to management.
• Ensure survey work is performed accurately and in accordance with project requirements and established procedures.
• Maintain reliable attendance and arrive on time and prepared for scheduled assignments.

Hourly Rate: $28 -$40/hr. Time & a half OT. (pay depending on experience)

Position Overview

A well-established engineering and professional services firm is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to lead a survey crew supporting a variety of commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and construction projects throughout the Mobile/Baldwin County area and surrounding region.

The Survey Party Chief will oversee the day-to-day activities of the survey crew, ensuring field work is completed accurately, safely, and efficiently. This position works closely with the Professional Land Surveyor and project supervisors and is responsible for collecting, calculating, and reporting accurate survey data.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Strong understanding of measurements, field calculations, and surveying principles.
• Intermediate-level mathematics skills, including trigonometry and coordinate geometry.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, plats, and deeds.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while effectively leading and communicating with a field crew.
• Ability and willingness to travel and occasionally stay overnight based on project and department needs.

Physical & Field Requirements

This is a hands-on field position requiring the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

• Ability to work outdoors in the field for extended periods, potentially up to 100% of the workday.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including a minimum of eight hours per day as needed.
• Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain and active construction sites.
• Ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, and perform other physical activities associated with field surveying.
• Ability to safely operate a company vehicle to and from job sites.
