Job summary

The Will Group is hiring a Survey Field Technician for The Upchurch Group in Mattoon, IL. You’ll learn to perform topographic, boundary, and construction layout surveys using GPS, total stations, data collectors, and digital levels.

No prior surveying experience required; training is provided. You’ll work outdoors, travel to project sites, and contribute to community infrastructure while growing your technical skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Outdoor and active work environment; detail-oriented.
• Team player with ability to travel to job sites.
• Willing to learn a skilled technical profession in surveying.

Responsibilities

• Collect accurate field data for engineering and construction projects.
• Perform topographic, boundary, and construction layout surveys.
• Set stakes, hold rods, mark points, and assist survey crews.
• Maintain field notes and digital records.
• Assist with survey calculations and data interpretation.
• Travel to project sites and work with experienced professionals.
• Participate in materials testing (concrete, asphalt, soil, aggregates).

What You’ll Do

• Assist with survey calculations and data interpretation
• Participate in concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregate materials testing
• Travel to different project sites and work alongside experienced professionals
