Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Survey Field Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in land surveying and be proficient with modern surveying equipment and techniques. This role involves conducting field surveys and collecting data for use in preparing survey maps and reports.

Responsibilities
  • Perform field surveys using GPS, total stations, and other surveying equipment
  • Collect and record accurate survey data for various projects
  • Conduct topographic, boundary, and construction staking surveys
  • Ensure all work complies with company standards, regulations, and safety procedures
  • Collaborate with all team members, including the Party Crew Chief and contractors/clients to ensure proper data collection and staking
  • Maintain and troubleshoot surveying equipment as needed
Qualifications
  • Ability to be on job sites early in the morning, typically 6am or earlier
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in land surveying or a related field preferred
  • Proficiency with GPS, total stations, and data collectors
  • Strong understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to read and interpret survey notes, maps, and construction plans
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with Trimble equipment, GPS, total station, and other surveying instruments is a plus
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as bending, twisting, squatting, lifting, and moving objects of up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites
  • Knowledge of and compliance with OSHA safety standards and regulations
  • Adherence to Illinois Department of Labor regulations and federal employment laws, including non-discrimination policies

Compensation & Benefits
  • Compensation: $23-30/hourly rate
  • The hourly range provided is a general guideline. Final compensation will be based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and overall alignment with the role and company needs
