Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum five (5) years of surveying experience.
  • Willing to travel 100% across Northern Indiana, Southwest Ohio and Kentucky.
  • Exceptional knowledge of GPS and robotic total station.
  • Proficient with field survey instruments and surveying principles.
  • Basic understanding of Civil3D is a plus.
  • Drive with a valid license and clean motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to lead a survey crew and maintain safety.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain surveying instruments and data collection.
  • Record survey results and verify data accuracy with field checks.
  • Transmit survey data to office files from remote locations daily.
  • Prepare clear field notes and daily staking sheets.
  • Assist in training staff on field methods and instrument use.
  • Lead survey crew with emphasis on safety, cost control and professionalism.
  • Maintain strong internal and external client relations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Metro Consulting Associates (MCA), a surveying, civil engineering, and land planning consulting firm is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented self-starter to join our staff as a Chief Field Surveyor based out of our Cincinnati, Ohio office. This position is responsible for translating project objectives between the office and the field and directing all duties of field survey members assigned to them while performing calculations and appropriate field activities such as construction staking, boundary, ALTA, Right of Way mapping, Aerial and/or topographic surveys and any duties asked of them.

Metro Consulting Associates (MCA), a surveying, civil engineering, and land planning consulting firm is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented self-starter to join our staff as a Chief Field Surveyor based out of our Cincinnati, Ohio office. This position is responsible for translating project objectives between the office and the field and directing all duties of field survey members assigned to them while performing calculations and appropriate field activities such as construction staking, boundary, ALTA, Right of Way mapping, Aerial and/or topographic surveys and any duties asked of them.

Essential Functions
  • Operate and maintain care of all surveying and data collection instruments
  • Record the results of surveying and verify the accuracy of data with proper field checks recorded
  • Transmit survey data to the proper files in the computer network, which includes sending data to the office from remote locations on a daily basis, and be able to acquire the data for field use when necessary
  • Prepare legible written field notes and daily records and maintains cut sheets for staking projects
  • Assist in training of staff on field methods and instrument use and care
  • Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
  • Lead survey crew by providing direction and leadership by demonstrating an attitude for safety, cost control, efficiency and professionalism
  • Maintain exceptional internal and external client relations
  • All other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High School diploma and/or equivalent combination of education
  • Minimum five (5) years applicable experience in the surveying industry
  • Willing to travel 100% throughout Northern Indiana, Soutwest Ohio and Kentucky
  • Exceptional knowledge of GPS and robotic total station
  • Adhere to Company standards and methodologies
  • Required to havesatisfactory results on a Motor Vehicle Record check and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Proficient with field survey instruments, principles of survey measurement, staking, and marking
  • Field experience leading survey crew
  • Basic understanding of the Civil3D platform and technology a plus
  • Strong problem solving/analytical skills
  • Ability to adapt to change
