Job summary

Verdantas LLC is hiring a Survey Crew Chief to lead surveying operations in locations including Bel Air MD, Dover DE, Wilmington DE, and Philadelphia PA. You will manage a survey crew and utilize advanced technology such as robotic total stations and drone-based imagery to ensure efficient, accurate data collection.

This role demands strong project management skills with responsibilities including planning and organizing survey projects, overseeing field operations, and enhancing team capabilities through regular training. The position starts at $33.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in surveying, geomatics or related field (higher education preferred).
• Minimum 3 years of land surveying experience with at least 1 year in project management.
• Proficient in the use of surveying instruments and software.
• Capability to work primarily outdoors, occasionally in office.
• Physical capacity to carry up to 50lbs regularly and up to 80lbs occasionally.
• Valid driver’s license; drone license preferred.
• Strong leadership and problem‑solving skills.
• Familiarity with relevant regulations and best practices.

• Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments and equipment.
• Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide regular updates on project progress.

Survey Crew Chief – Locations

Join our team as a Survey Crew Chief in Bel Air MD, Dover DE, Wilmington DE, or Philadelphia PA where you'll lead surveying operations with state‑of‑the‑art technology. You will manage field operations using robotic total stations, RTK GPS, drone‑based imagery and construction stakeout.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with project managers to understand survey requirements and objectives.
• Plan, prepare, and organize survey field projects, including resource and equipment allocation.
• Lead and supervise a survey crew, providing guidance and direction to ensure efficient and accurate survey operations.
• Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the skills of survey team members and foster a positive, collaborative environment.
• Conduct field surveys using various instruments such as total stations, GPS receivers, data collectors, drones, and 3D scanners, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards and legal requirements.
• Oversee the collection of accurate field data and measurements and implement quality control measures to verify accuracy and reliability.
• Review and analyze survey data to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments and equipment.
• Coordinate with the equipment manager to ensure all tools are in good working condition.
• Communicate with clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide regular updates on project progress.
• Enforce and adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents, and promote a culture of safety within the survey team.
