Job summary

Volkert is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief in Indiana to support the Midwest Region (IN, IL, KY, OH). The role requires travel up to 25% and leading field survey crews to deliver projects on time.

You will supervise survey tasks, coordinate with clients and project managers, and ensure quality fieldwork across multiple states. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working as a Party Chief.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in construction staking and boundary/topographic surveys.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening; employer may follow federal guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory MVR.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a crew which conducts field surveys as defined by the project manager.
• Accomplishes majority of survey tasks with limited interaction with supervisors and/or Land Surveyors.
• Communicates effectively with client representatives, governing agents, and public representatives; keeps the client field representative informed of progress and problems.
• Communicates progress and any client change requests to the project manager and ensures job completion.

We are currently searching for an experienced Survey Crew Chief in Indiana to support our Midwest Region (IN, IL, KY, and OH). For this position, candidate must be willing to travel.

To be considered for this position, applicants musthave, at minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.

What you’ll be doing:

• Supervises a crew which conducts field surveys as defined by the project manager
• Accomplishes majority of survey tasks with limited interaction with supervisors and/or Land Surveyors
• Communicates effectively with, and meets the needs of the client representative, governing agent and public representatives involved in each project; keeps the client field representative informed as to progress and problems and notifies when job is complete
• Communicates effectively with project manager as to project progress, problems, client change requests and job completion

What you need to have:

• 5+ years of experience working as a Party Chief
• Strong communication skills
• Proficiency in construction staking and boundary and topographic surveys
• Ability to travel up to 25%
• Ability to demonstrate organizational skills, including attention to detail
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
