Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking Patient Care Technicians for the Surgical & Trauma Care Unit (3RC) in the Medical-Surgical Services Division. The unit supports orthopedics, trauma and spine care with a team focused on holistic, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities include vitals, basic procedures, admission/transfers, and patient comfort under RN supervision during night shifts with weekend and holiday rotations.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Independently obtain and record vital signs.
• Carry out aseptic techniques and assist with care including phlebotomy and catheter removal.
• Perform basic diagnostic/therapeutic procedures and assist with patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Provide for patient comfort and personal hygiene.
• Transport patients and supplies and support nursing care conferences.
