Job description

Position Summary

The Surgical Technology Instructor role requires a strong foundation in surgical technology practices, effective communication skills, and a commitment to education. Compensation range: $51,934.60 - $57,255.05 depending on qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engaging and effective instruction in core surgical technology courses, adhering to current Core Curriculum guidelines.
  • Evaluate student performance, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.
  • Deliver a quality educational experience for students at clinical sites, ensuring they meet necessary competencies for certification.
  • Work with program leadership to support academic goals and mission and collaborate with Clinical Managers and Educational Coordinators.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum development, and programmatic assessments as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Faculty/instructional staff must be effective in teaching and knowledgeable in subject matter as documented by appropriate professional credential(s)/certification(s), education and experience in the designated content area.
  • Graduated from an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
  • Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
  • Have a minimum of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.
Supplemental Qualifications
  • Must have been awarded the qualifying degree and/or qualifying graduate semester hours.
  • Relatives outside the United States must submit a foreign credential evaluation from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluations Services.
  • Must provide graduate academic transcripts showing attainment of the required degree; if not updated, provide written documentation of awarding.
Pay Rate

Faculty members will be assigned to the appropriate salary grade based on the contract with the faculty union.

  • Grade 2: Master’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in the field – $51,934.60
  • Grade 2+: Master’s Degree with 60 graduate semester hours in the field – $54,594.23
  • Grade 1: Earned Doctor in major field – $57,255.05
