Job summary

Lone Star College is seeking an experienced Surgical Technology instructor to teach courses, develop and deliver syllabi, and support student learning across multiple times and locations. The faculty member will utilize varied teaching methods to meet diverse educational needs and will evaluate student progress while fostering professional relationships within the college community.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Surgical Technology and an Associate's degree or higher in nursing, surgical technology or related field, and a current Surgical Technologist certification (CST).
• Minimum total of three years of experience in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.

Responsibilities

• Teaches courses in Surgical Technologist at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs.
• Develops and uses a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college and departmental guidelines.
• Plans, develops and uses a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives.
• Evaluates students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives.
• Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
• Provides access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
