Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in League City, Texas seeks a Surgical Technologist to assist in operating room procedures under supervision. You will ensure sterile technique, prepare the operating suite, and pass instruments to surgeons to support safe, efficient surgeries.

• Assists circulator or scrub person in all specialties.
• Cleans and prepares surgical instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Maintains tray inventory after each surgical case.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist or obtain the certification within 6 months of employment OR
• Employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009, OR
• Completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service
• Basic Life Support

Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist performs direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during, and after surgical interventions. Assists in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons and registered nurses to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that the equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
