Responsibilities

  • Shadow and observe licensed Surgical Technologists and surgeons.

Job Summary and Qualifications
What You Will Do In This Role
  • Shadow and observe licensed Surgical Technologists and surgeons to gain a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Assist in preparing operating rooms, ensuring they are clean, sterile, and well-stocked with the necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Help with the transportation of patients to and from the operating room under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional.
  • Observe and learn proper surgical aseptic techniques and infection control practices.
  • Assist with the preparation and handling of surgical instruments and supplies under the direct supervision of a licensed Surgical Technologist.
  • Provide basic patient care and comfort, such as answering questions, providing reassurance, and ensuring patient privacy.
  • Participate in educational opportunities, such as attending workshops, seminars, or training sessions, as directed by the supervising Surgical Technologist or department manager.
What qualifications you will need
  • Current enrollment in an accredited surgical technology program. Required
  • Completion of prerequisite coursework in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and medical terminology. Required
  • BLS (ARC or AHA)
