Job summary

Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Surgery Department. This full-time role requires graduation from a Surgical Technology program and BCLS certification; a specialty area certification is a plus.

You will assist in sterile instrument handling, ensure safety and patient advocacy, and support the RN with case-specific needs. Hours are 40 per week in a high-demand surgical environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a Surgical Technology program.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required. Certification in specialty area preferred.

  • Ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking and management of case-specific needs under direct supervision of the RN.
  • Ensures complete, accurate and timely care, cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Communicates to the team, coworkers and patients in an effective, positive and professional manner with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance and professional growth.
  • Demonstrates cost containment activities of instruments and inventory.

What You Will Need

  • Ensures complete, accurate and timely care, cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Communicates to the team, co-workers and patients in an effective, positive and professional manner. Demonstrates effective, positive, professional manners while exercising verbal and nonverbal communication to the multidisciplinary team, co-workers, and patients.
  • Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
  • Demonstrates cost containment activities of instruments and inventory.
