Position Summary

The Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.

Hours / Schedule

10 / Variable shifts Mon - Fri between the hours of 6:30am - 7:00pm

Education

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician Program or previous on the job training in surgical technology required.

License / Certification

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required or within 90 days of hire.

Experience

• 1+ year of surgical experience preferred.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintains sterile field during surgical procedure through consistent application of aseptic technique.
• Performs scrub duties in an accurate, concise and timely manner.
• Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility by performing scrub duties for a variety of orthopedic surgical procedures.
• Readily identifies locations and secures supplies/equipment in the department.
• Uses communication skills to achieve the desired outcomes and is perceived as satisfying and acceptable by those involved promoting teamwork.
• Promotes the team concept by demonstrating commitment and involvement among co-workers and other members of the health care team.
• Follows risk management practices to provide a safe environment for the patient, co-worker and hospital.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.

• Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.

Physical Requirements

• This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
• Must be able to pass background check.
• We also conduct pre-employment physical and drug testing.
• Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.
