Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Alamogordo, NM seeks a Surgical Technologist to prepare the operating room, maintain aseptic technique, and assist the surgeon before, during, and after procedures. You will scrub in multiple specialty areas and ensure sterile field, pass instruments, and support patient care.

This full-time role requires a Surgical Technology program or LVN/LPN program, BLS, and CST within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN license. Four 10-hour days are typical.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of the Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program is required.
• 2+ years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet the OneCHRISTUS competencies as a leader at various levels.
• Assist in delivery of direct patient care in the OR under nurse direction.
• Scrub in multiple specialty areas (e.g., Transplants, Open Heart, Urology) as needed.
• Establish and maintain the sterile field and pass instruments to the physician.
• Use physician preference cards to pull cases and set up the OR.
• Keep preference cards up to date and complete.
• Work effectively as part of the patient-care team.
• Maintain a safe environment with proper aseptic techniques.
• Demonstrate expertise with surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Follow Universal Barrier Precautions for safety.
• Monitor and control the surgical environment and keep OR policies.
• Be familiar with decontamination and sterilization policies.
• Adapt patient care methods to meet individual needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
