Qualifications

• Specialized experience includes handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during all surgical procedures such as thoracic, major vascular and total joint surgery; sets up a sterile field with all required items for each procedure.
• Education can be one year of graduate education (18 semester hours) or an internship in coursework directly related to Surgical Technician work; transcripts must be submitted.
• Volunteer work and national service may count toward qualifying experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon and team during procedures under supervision.
• Plan and implement complex procedures as needed by direct care providers and nurses.
• Provide clerical support for processes and activities as required.
